Would you host your kids birthday party at a gun range? Would you let them attend one there?

LEWISVILLE, Texas (CBS Houston) – A new gun range is in the works for Lewisville, that hopes to offer the community a family-friendly experience and kids’ birthday parties on the shooting range.
The Eagle Indoor Gun Range is still under construction, but it will one day be a 24-lane indoor facility open to gun enthusiasts of all ages, WFAA-TV is reporting.
Owner David Prince told the station that two rooms will be made available for the birthday parties.
“The age limit is eight years old. You have to be tall enough to get above the shooting table,” Prince told WFAA. “They’re not gonna be left unattended. Parents are gonna be one-on-one, or if there’s not enough parents we’ll have range safety officers here to show them how to do it safely.”
The Eagle Gun Range hopes to offer a new experience for families seeking to educate their children about proper, safe gun use.
“One of the reasons we’re doing this is, when I had my boys, I didn’t have a place to take them and educate them about how to handle a gun safely,” Prince explained to WFAA.
Some parents feel trepidation about the idea, including Dawn McMullan, a mother who has reportedly stumped for gun control. She told WFAA-8 that she was “nervous” about the concept.
“I think eight-year-olds, developmentally, can’t tell the difference between play and reality sometimes,” she noted to WFAA. “And also to put it in a party or game atmosphere just seems to not respect a gun as much as we should respect guns,” she said.
Prince’s idea has the support of Denton County Commissioner Hugh Coleman, however.
“I am thrilled to add jobs and add to the tax base,” he told WFAA. “And I think gun rights are for everyone.”
