My son couldn't make up his mind this year on what kind of party he wanted for his 4th birthday! At 1st he wanted a hockey party, then there are monster trucks, super hero's and pirates!
I talked him into a pirate one because him and hubby do love pirates and captain jack sparrow and right now I am finding some SERIOUS DEALS on Pirate things!!!!
My only question is does anyone think up their own stuff anymore, LOL I mean we all did at one time and people still do because I AM LOVING catch my party and pinterest!! I just wish I felt creative and thought up some stuff on my own!!
The cutest thing yet I am loving that I found online was the idea of walk the plank!! They take a 2x4 and put it on bricks or something else to put it a little up in the air. I definitely am doing this!!
That sounds like a cute theme for a 4yo boy plus if girls are attending there are lots of stuff for a girly pirate.......and "serious deals" are nothing to sneeze at.
I know how you feel about being original but the cool thing is that mostly the ideas serve as inspiration and when I do try someting it always ends up different as I may add a new twist so in the end it's not totally copying someones party, just a blend of all the ideas that inspire my own creativity.
I could definitely use more ideas I just thought of it so I don't have anything planned at all yet! Other than I contacted my friend who does invites, picked up some cute treat bags from walmart on clearance. I was looking on oriental trading for some tattoos and other things but have yet to buy anything else.
No idea for food though! Any thoughts on that??
hm. root beer..or root beer floats. for the beer or ale that pirates always drink.
something citrus. oranges or something. pirates/sailors used to combat scurvey.
for some reason coconuts always remind me of pirates.

Here is a cute cookie idea.
South Seas Sugar Cookies
1/3 cup butter-flavored shortening
1/3 cup sugar
2/3 cup honey
1 egg
1 teaspoon lemon extract
2-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
FROSTING:
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/4 cup butter-flavored shortening
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1/8 teaspoon salt
3-3/4 cups confectioners' sugar
3 to 4 tablespoons milk
Yellow-gold, brown and green paste food coloring
Yellow and orange colored sugar
Chocolate chips
In a large bowl, cream the shortening and sugar until smooth. Beat in the honey, egg and extract. Combine the flour, salt and baking soda; gradually add to creamed mixture. Cover and refrigerate for 4 hours or until easy to handle.
On a lightly floured surface, roll out dough to 1/4-in. thickness; cut with pineapple and palm tree cookie cutters dipped in flour. Place 1 in. apart on greased baking sheets. Bake at 375° for 7-8 minutes or until set. Remove to wire racks to cool.
For frosting, in a small bowl, beat the butter, shortening, extract, salt, confectioners' sugar until smooth; add enough milk to achieve spreading consistency. Tint 1 cup frosting yellow-gold, 1/2 cup brown and 2-1/2 cups green.
Frost pineapples yellow-gold and tree trunks brown. With a toothpick, draw lines on pineapples; sprinkle with colored sugar.
Cut a small hole in the corner of a pastry or plastic bag; insert #21 star tip. Fill the bag with green frosting; pipe leaves on pineapples and palm trees. Add chocolate chips to palm trees for coconuts. Yield: about 2 dozen.
