Is she serious?

As some of you may know, Stella was born extremely premature, 15 weeks. Well, her development is delayed. She is more like a 6 month old (which is how old she should be) than a 9 month old (which is what she is). Anyway, my mother doesn't want to have a party on her actual birthday, she wants to have one around her due date, when her adjusted age will be 12 months. She said by then she'll be able to enjoy cake and maybe play a little. . . She has a point (kinda) but December is 3 months away! I was so ready to celebrate! of course she said the choice is mine, but i'm torn. If I listen to her Stella could possibly enjoy herself. But I also wanna acknowledge her REAL birthday. What would you do?

Whatever day she entered the world is her birth date. I would celebrate then, regardless of other opinions.

Hmmmm ....first of all the decision is entirely yours and your husbands of course  - for me I would have hosted a small thanksgiving with immediate family only to celebrate her birth and current life and health and when she is stronger and more fully developed I would do a bigger party for her....  my reasoning is I tracked my daughter's developmental stages closely from 1 day to 36 months and I am truly amazed in the difference a week or a month makes in their development at that age, so I think the party will be worth the wait if you want her to be more responsive and enjoy it....again JMO.......

My husband was irritated by the suggestion of waiting. Since we are going to Chuck E Cheese and only invited 15 kids, he feels like that is low key, and that we can do something big next year. He says her birthday is the day she was born and her due date was an estimated date that was probably gonna be wrong anyway so why celebrate then? He booked her party at Chuck E Cheese and said if they wanna celebrate in March, let them pay for it. Lol. So I'm going to go with what he says. He's made up his mind, And once it's made up it doesn't change. Lol

At the end of the day it's you and your husbands choice that matters :)

He's actually being stubborn because it was originally my sister's idea and he's not a fan of her. He says she always wants to control something. Lol

Sounds like you made up your mind and I support your decision for what its worth. It should be all up to you and your husband. Not anyone else.

Yeah. I had to back him up on this one. He also told them, we were buying the decor for her party. But he does like the Minnie Mouse because of a cake we seen a few months ago. . . he ordered that and Abby and said she can have Abby for her other Celebration or when she turns 2.
