I'm new and need advice :( Unintelligible speech, tonsils, adenoids, tubes
My 2 1/2 yo son had his tonsils/adenoids out on Jan. 18th. He has been in speech for about 4 months now. His adenoids were blocking his nasal airway 100% and his tonsils were just large but never caused and sickness. He used to snore and only breathe thru his mouth but that has all changed now. He passed his hearing test with the audiologist but ENT put tubes in his ears because they both had fluid and he said there was damage from the many many ear infections he had as a baby.
I have not noticed any change in his speech. He has lots to say but it is unintelligible. We can understand about 50% of what he has to say. He puts words together and can repeat new words we are teaching him but they are very difficult to understand.
I thought the surgery would make a difference in his speech but I am not seeing any change. Is it too early (its been 9 days) to notice a difference? Should I be doing something other than what the therapist has me do at home?? I could really use some advice.......
