so my 7 month old dane Blue has a spot on his back kinda between his shoulders that the hair isn't very thick and on a closer look the skin is very dry and flakey. his coat is very glossy and sleek besides this little spot (about the size of quarter). you can't really even see the spot unless the sun is shinning on it. do you think this could be a form of mange? it's no where else on him just the one spot. we can't get to the vet  until the middle of the week and i'm just curious if any of you ladies might know what it is.

went to the vet yesterday and he said blue's just fine. he said sometimes with the breed that grow very quickly they get little skin issues that will go away. we're just worried parents and want to make sure he's healthy.

our baby girl has skin issues.  Our old vet said she just had sensitive skin.  Now, our new vet has said that she was allergic to something in her food. She was growing alright, but her skin was always dry & itchy.  So we switched her to Nutro Max, large breed puppy & her coat is looking alot better and she's put on a little weight, not a lot but about 10 pounds.  But she hasn't been scratching as much.  We are hoping this will be a good thing for her!

You can also try giving them Fish oil tablets to supplement for their skin.  we give our danes 1000mg a day along with 1000mg ester C. Also try feeding a grain free food. Meat base
