this post will be for letting each other know of good deals we can all take advantage of. like, reminding each other when safeways "spend $50.00 save $10.00" coupon comes out, or when a particular store has a meat sale. let's let each other know!
once a week or so (i'm not sure yet how often i'll need to) i'll delete old ones so that we don't have to hunt around for current things.

I am learning from the thriftiest person I know, my mom. Here are todays lessons!
The current Portland Tribune has the $10 off $50 at Safeway, one for this week and one for next week...with a couple other good coupons, like a free reusable bag (some stores-like Albertsons and New Seasons, give you .5/bag when you bring your own). Remember that Albertsons will take competitors coupons, including this one, too!
There are some really weird quirks in your favor to Albertsons:
-If your item rings up the wrong price...the item is free. I feel bad taking them up on this offer, but it is there if you have the guts for it.
-If the sale item is unavailable you can get a raincheck that you can use whenever, so you can wait until you find a great coupon to use with it.
On this mommy led lesson, I spent $53 there today, saving about $75.
If you are able to print coupons, there are many websites you can visit-here are some I like.
http://print.coupons.com/couponweb/Offers.aspx?pid=13101&zid=pt82&nid=10&bid=080101090128whplcroj this site currently has a coupon for $1.10 off of Nature Valley cereal, which is currently $1/box at Alberstons...they don't give you .10 back, but you DO get it for FREE!
I bought 5 campbell's soup cups for $1 a piece at Albertsons and my checkout receipt had a $1 off my next purchase courtesy of campbells...find a coupon to add on to this deal, then double it with a safeway or thriftway doubler and wow.
I bought pampers easy ups (with a $2 off coupon) earlier and my check out receipt had an $8 off Enfamil Next Step, which I combined with an Enfamil check for $3 (which you get if you sign up for their mailing list on their website, or you can buy them on ebay) at Albertsons where these are on sale now for $20.99. There are other great enfamil (and diaper) coupons spitting out with receipts and sometimes you can find abandoned ones near the self checkouts, which I also didn't have the guts to do, but my mom has apparently gotten over looking desperate.
At coolsavings.com there is a .50 off one pasta-roni/rice-a-roni coupon, which is $1 each this week at Albertsons and if you double it with either the safeway or thriftway doubler...that is a steal.
smartsource.com has manufacturing coupons but also free samples.
You cannot photocopy these coupons, they must be printed to get individual ID codes. Some websites, like gerber.com make sure you can only print one coupon (sometimes even if you didn't print).
Most stores post their weekly ads on their websites and albertsons.com even has printable manufacuring coupons.
There are blogs that compile deals/coupons like this one:
http://printable-coupons.blogspot.com/2005/11/babies-r-us-coupons.html
I am still learning the ropes, like when to get a Sunday Oregonian to get the manufacturing coupons...but I am already feeling like I could do a solo trip without having to open a new credit card account. Good luck!
