Hi everyone,
I just wanted to let anyone who is a stay at home mom or works less the full time (or works full time, but takes care of her kids during the day by working night hours (usually) to be opposite her partner's hours) know that there are several mom's groups you could be a part of.  If anyone receives the Community News paper, many of the groups are advertised in there.  I am the President of a sahm's group called At Home Mothers Connection.  If you want to check us out on the internet, the address is www.athomemothersconnection.org.  We do lots of cool things.  We have things that are for the moms & their children & for just the moms.  We meet the 1st & 3rd Wed. of each month from 7:30p-9:30p without children (except nursing infants).  We offer playgroups on different days & times, mom & tot activities, children's book club, mom's book club, coffee mornings, walking days, coffee night out (without children), mom's night out (without children), & scrapbooking morning (or other craft or activity).    The reason we offer activities without children is because we found that moms generally don't take time out for themselves on a regular basis & this gives us a reason to take a few hours each month to do so.   We also hold an annual children's resale at Del-Tech Community College every 3rd Saturday in August.  If you have never been to a resale...you definitely got to go to one.  It is amazing.  Anything you can think of that has to do with children is there, even maternity clothes for mom!  If you are interested you can attend up to 2 meetings before joining the group.  Also, we email me to let me know you are interested &/or to answer any questions you may have.
Of course I would not be fair if I didn't tell you about other sahm's groups, however, I do not know as much about these groups as I do my own.  There are a few national groups - MOMS clubs that are divided by areas (East Bear, West Bear, Pike Creek, Brandywine, Hockessin, etc.).  This group offers playgroups & activities during the day with children.  MOPS group that allows sahm's until their children are out of preschool.  Mothers of Multiples is a group that is specifically for moms of twins, triplets, etc.  There are also a few others, but these are the main ones.
I bring this up because I know how lonely it can be if you stay at home with your child(ren).  It is nice to be around other sahm's who are doing what you are doing.
All of these groups meet on a regular basis.  Let me know if you would like more information.
Hope to meet you all soon, Jamie
