Home Remedies and Herbal Moms
Does anyone know of herbs that are good to take after childbirth? Like to help get your uterus back in shape or maybe to help with milk production?

Red Raspberry Leaf tea is good for your uterus. Also, Mother's Milk (tea name, not brand name) is really good for breastfeeding women. It tastes good too.

by Loa1002 on Aug. 17, 2008 at 9:49 PMThe brand I use is Traditional Medicinals. There is Mothers Milk for increasing supply and Pregnancy Tea which helps with the uterus and they also have raspberry tea if that is what you want. I add honey and lemon too. For increasing supply (in my bf group) they say eat oatmeal once a day. There are tons of other tips too if you want to check it out...I think that group is my Breastfeeding Moms group. |

by BarefootAmy on Aug. 22, 2008 at 7:00 AMNothing beats Red Raspberry Leaf Tea for getting your uterus back into shape. You can take Fenugreek for increasing milk supply, but I would watch out unless you really have a problem. Usually your supply will come in all on its own, and if you try to help it out too much, you're going to end up with swollen rocks for boobies!!

by JodiBear on Aug. 27, 2008 at 4:50 PMThere are lots of herbs that are excellent during and after childbirth. Check out "The Childbearing Year" by Susun Weed. You can find lots of information on her website as well. One of my favorites is hops to increase breastmilk production - think non-alcoholic beer ; ) Red Raspberry tea will tone and strengthen the uterus... the book is a wealth of information. Just a real life firefighter/medic mom, I've probably seen more pain & suffering than most, and my opinions, practices, & beliefs are based on my life experience. Blessings |

by babyjoybaby on Aug. 28, 2008 at 9:52 AMDon't forget about lavendar Oil. Great for healing your perineum. You can put it in your peri bottle with some warm water. Squirt till your heart is content! Lavendar in a natural healer/softner/calmer. Plus it smells good too! Add it too your postpartum bath if you having one. AND---once baby's here you could use it as a massage oil (mixed with a base oil). |
