My daughter has had a habitually stuffy nose for, what seems like, a couple months. She says she cannot breath well and is always blowing her nose. The dr gave her singulair for her allergies/asthma and nasonex but I dont think either are working.  She refuse to take ocean spray in her nose.  Anything I can do for her? or that she can take to relieve this?

I do the netti pot and I think that zyrtec works the best for my stuffy nose

You can put some apple cider vinegar and water (50:50) in a pot and simmer it. Have her stand over and breathe the vapors. They can sting, but it'll clear you up real quick. I usually count to 10 and back off for a moment and then come back and count again. I do this off and on throughout the day and by nighttime, I usually feel better. You can also put the vinegar in the top of an humidifier and let it run in the room she sleeps in. Try also eliminating any milk products from her diet. If you get marshmallow root and mix it with orange juice (they can't taste it) and have her drink that thru the day as well, it'll clear her right up.

I don't mean to steal another's post, but Sylvia's rub in the family cough thread sounded like a good option.

I like to give my kids Sambucol (black elderberry syrup) from GNC.  It works wonderfully.  Also, if they are really congested, I use olive oil for a base and add  tea tree oil, eucalyptus, and lavender oil and make a chest and back rub.  Use the oils 10 drops each to 2 tbls. olive oil.  This would be suitable for children under the age of five.  Over age five, you can use 15 drops each of red thyme and tea tree oil to 2 tbls. olive oil.  I got this formula from The Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy by Valerie Ann Wormwood.  When my kids were younger and they would wake up with a barking cough, I would rub this formula on their chest and within ten minutes it would be loose.
