I have started repairing all the elastic on my BG diapers (yeah!).
I repair them the "right" way. I removed part of the seam, changed the elastic and hand sewd the seam back.
You can't even tell I repaired them. They look GREAT! No cuts in the fleece or anything (some repairers cut the fleece when they do their repairs).
Anyway, I was thinking of repairing them for money. The problem is that it took me FOREVER to do the two diapers I have done so far (have have eight left to repair). I think it took about three to four hours a diaper. I think I can get faster once I do more of them.
I was wondering. If I charge for shipping both ways. How much additional should I charge for repairing each diaper?
How much would you pay to have your diapers repaired?
How long would you allow a mom to have your diapers before you demand they send them back? I was thinking of asking for a week to do a repair. Most moms will probably send all their diapers at once (to save on shipping) and I guess that most moms would have a dozen or two to send.
Please let me know what you think. I had one mom suggest I charge $1 for each piece of elastic. So if you wanted all three pieces of elastic repaired then it would be $3 a diaper. If you only wanted the legs done then it would be $2 a diaper.
I am hoping to get my timing down to 30 minutes a piece of elastic. So yes, we are looking at $2 an hour. But I feel if I can help another mom out then that would be great.
So I guess I was wondering how much you would pay or how much I should charge to do a repair.
