That does it! We went on a trip recently and I decided to try another "alternative plastic diaper". The ones that don't use gel and are naturally bleached etc. It doesn't seem to matter what I use, if it is plastic, it causes diaper rash. Now I get why the reported rate of diaper rash is so high these days and why there are so many options for diaper rash ointments. I think it is directly related to the majority of people using plastic diapers on their babies. I feel terrible every time I use them because my little one ends up paying the price. Next time I am going to figure out how to take the cloth diapers with us. Any suggestions or comments?

I am not going to be traveling with my daughter until May, but I have been trying to get some ideas together because for whatever reason it takes forever for me to find what I'm looking for when I wait until the last minute...
I was thinking about packing a few of those BIG size ziplock bags - the ones designed for storage. I'm thinking if I rinse them out and wrap them one bag inside of the other (maybe with some baking soda in there to help absorb the odor) then i can get home without everything else smelling bad and the bags are sturdy so they can be reused.

She yells "jump, Monkey!" and I jump...

I read this on Cotton Babies awhile ago and thought maybe I would consider using a laundromat during holidays so we could take our cloth diapers with us:

My Hubby thinks that is pretty extreme though and we have stocked up on some gDiapers for our upcoming holiday. They don't seem to bother our baby, but they do contain the gel :(

Thanks! If G Diapers work for you, go for it! I eneded up traveling with my cloth diapers last month (to grandma's house) and used her washer. It worked out ok.
