what is the cheapest and most effective cloth diaper, i don't want to waste my money on pretty diapers, im trying to save money? can u help?
How do i wash and dry cloth diapers? Do you have a wash and dry method that works with all kinds of cloth diapers, not just certain ones? thank you for your help im real eager to get started
If you are looking for the cheapest cost effective method, then I would suggest prefolds with fleece of PUL covers. Gerbers are very cheapest, but not a great quality. For a couple bucks more, you can get a doz prefolds with better fits, and absorbtion. I"m not the best to ask on what is best in prefolds, but there are a lot of cloth diapering groups here that someone can help with.
If you can sew, then I suggest some of the free online diaper patterns, and sew your own. You can get a good stash going for about $40 including covers!
Good luck~
I started out with Gerber prefolds just to get my stash going. Its true for a few more dollars you can get prefolds. I use those on my 6 mo daughter - they work great. I currently use Thirsties covers, they are inexpensive and work great! Its also worth it to buy Snappis, that way you dont worry about sticking your little one w/a pin - I never did, but got myself a couple of times!
Depending on the age of the child you could go with a dozen a day for prefolds, washing diapers daily. Thirsties covers can be used more then once, the inside wipes off. I would buy a fitted diaper for night time they hold more liquid, then you dont have to worry about leaks or rashes due to being in a wet diaper for too long. I have only used Thirsties - I think they are the most resonable and work wonderfully!
Prefolds dry faster then fitteds or AIO (all in ones). I wash all mine at night so I dont have to wait for them to dry during the day.
Good luck!
