After biologically having two boys and adopting two boys, I talked my husband into giving it one more shot for a girl. I tried every method and old wives tale I could get my hands on and charted for nearly a year before TTC. Thankfully, it all paid off because I am overjoyed to announce we found out today we are having a little girl. I never thought this day would ever happen.
My advice to anyone wanting to try for a girl is to chart for quite a while before you start TTC. I found out my level of activity and how much time I spent out in the sun affected when I ovulated. Weird, I know, but it did.
Congrats!!! :) Anyway you could specify alittle more on how you swayed? DH & I are TTC a girl after 3boys :) Any extra Info would help :)
I charted when I ovulated and when I started my menstrual cycle. I normally have a 28 day cycle and ovulate on the 14th day. In August I started my menstrual cycle on the 19th so we "DTD" on the 12th day and I ovulated two days later. I know a lot of people who use this method say 3 or 4 even maybe 5 days before ovulation but we did that the 4 months prior and nothing happened so we tried a little closer to my ovulation day. It was a risk but it worked. I found out I was pregnant on September 16th. It's kind of important to know exactly when you ovulate. Most women ovulate halfway through their menstrual cycles but that's not always the case. My aunt has a 28 day cycle as well but ovulates on her 11th day. To chart my cycle I used the basil body temperature method.
Also, a friend of mine said an old wives tale she heard and used was for the woman to not orgasm if you want a girl. She said her mother, sister, and herself all did this and it worked. I don't know how much truth there is to it but I did it because what's it going to hurt?
Another thing I read to boost getting pregnant in general was to eat/drink high calcium foods. I drank milk (which I normally don't do very often), ate cheese and cottage cheese as well as lots of fruit. I was also on a vitamin regimen of a multi-vitamin, calcium, vitamin-D, iron, and folic acid for about 6 months before we started. This could also be a prenatal vitamin but I had a ton of multi-vitamin and calcium vitamins I needed to use up before they went bad.
Good Luck to anyone trying for a girl. ![]()
Thank you so much :) That confirms alot of the information that I have :) Unfortunately tho my cycles are not regular.. After 6months of charting I knew on average around wut day I would Ovulate.. We tried last cycle at 4days be4 O with no luck.. We were going to try 3days be4 O this cycle BUT.. my cycle switched things up on me.. I ended up ovulating 4days early! So we had BD a few days be4 O..twice on the day I ovulated and once the next morning(2AM).. We used the diet, No supplements, shallow penetration and no orgasm.. So were hopin a girly got there first.. Im 7DPO with AF due 1/14.. Praying for a +HPT and our little princess :) ... Either way well be happy :)
Thank you everyone for the congrats and well wishes. I'm still in shock that I'm actually having a little girl. It hasn't stopped me from going shopping and buying cute little dresses and anything pink lol. ![]()

Wonderful congrats see patience is the key I have 5boys and 2girls I want another girl. Are u going to have any more
This will be the last child I give birth to. I suffer from hyperemesis gravidarum and pre-eclampsia in my pregnancies so I don't think my body can take being pregnant again. I would love to have more, I always dreamed of having a very large family. But being pregnant nearly kills me every time so I can't do it anymore. I may adopt more kids in the future though. I love adopting.
