My 6 month old son was diagnosed with nystagmus, but they dont know what caused it . I am so scared for him because they say it could be nothing or it could be something as serious as a tumor. He is also developing slower than my first son. He is only 6 mo but he weighs 20lbs. He has rolled over before he just doesnt, he wont push up when on his belly or put weight on his legs. I am hoping to find out more on 7-27-07 when we go to yet another specialist.

How is your child doing? My son also has nystagmus. He has albinism which causes his nystagmus. He is doing great now. He will be 14 months on the 23rd.

Hello~

My son is just 3 months old and the optomotrist thinks he may have some sort of Nystagmus. When he nurses, his eyes go back and forth. We have an appointment to go see a genetisist to see if he has any albinism. He was born with white hair and blue eyes. It may run on my husbands side of the family. My first son, who is now 2.5 was born with white hair and blue eyes and has no issues. I would love to talk to someone that is going through the same thing we are.  Please write me back. I know my son will be fine, the dr's said he could see, but may not be able to play sports or anything like that. I am all new to this and worried....but I know I should not worry as that will get me nowhere.

Hi,  I know it's been a while since your post.  I was wondering how your child was doing.
My son, Jimmy, has nystagmus.  He is now 3 1/2 years old and doing wonderfully.  Jimmy went through the early intervention system and nobody was understanding what to do with him.  We were told that he had everything from Autism, SID, ADHD...  until we met Dr. Hertle in Pittsburgh.  The short of it is, Jimmy had EYE SURGURY for his nystagmus and has been advancing beyond our dreams every since.
If you want to chat about this... I'd be glad to talk more.
