With the growing number of toy recalls that have become nearly impossible to keep track of, we're happy to be teaming up with The Consumer's Union, an expert, independent, nonprofit organization, whose mission is to work for a fair, just, and safe marketplace for all consumers (best known, of course, for Consumer's Reports).
They're taking a stab at the toy recalls with their "Get the Lead Out This Holiday Season" campaign, encouraging 12 Days of Safe Shopping (11/23 to 12/4) with parents sending letters to congress and making their local stores aware of their concerns by becoming "safe shoppers."
And since we're all parents with kids who probably have toys, we thought this was an excellent collaboration.
So, this Friday, November 9, please tell us what you're doing about the recalls -- emptying your toy box and starting over? shopping online from small businesses and local retailers? boycotting toymakers with recalled toys? petitioning your local politicians? shopping like you usually do?
We want to know what you think.
1) Write a post on your blog discussing this topic with your readers anytime before Midnight PST on Friday November 9.
2) Make sure to link blog.parentbloggers.com in your post.
3) Additionally, please link the Consumer's Union via this link somewhere in your post: http://www.consumersunion.org/SafeShopper
4) Email us the link to your post here (parentbloggers@gmail.com) and we'll be rounding them up all day on our blog as well as the CU blog.
While we don't have our typical enticing incentive, we will offer every blogger who participates a link to their post on the highly trafficked CU blog: Get The Lead Out http://www.consumersunion.org/blogs/nimc/, as well as a t-shirt.
