Ok so I have to vent!!  My hubby's ex informed us that since she can't file a tax return this year (she did not work at all), she is allowing her boyfriend to claim my husbands daughter on his taxes.  Now correct me if I am wrong, but isn't that illegal???  I thought the child had to be a relation to the taxpayer????  My husband claimed her this year and we got back a significant return.(it was his year to claim her).  We have decided to take our kids on a  vacation to Disney in July and the ex threw a FIT!!!  She said that because she can't afford to take her kids anywhere, we shouldn't be able to take our family anywhere!!!  The nerve of her!!!  Oh, I didn't mention that my husband now has to give her one full paycheck of his every month.  Yeah because she doesn't work, his child support went sky high!  I can't work due to a back injury so that leaves me and my two kids (hubby is their father) out in the cold!!  Thank God for a great supporting family!!  Ok I'm done venting!!

RE: the taxes

It should state in the Divorce Decree or on any of the legal paperwork about who claims the child when. My hubs ex claimes their son 3 years in a row. Wayyy wrong. We can only bring it up in Court or have the IRS pursue it, and then your refund is very late. Good luck.
