Any ideas for Indy summer activities?

What are you planning to do to keep the kiddies entertained this summer.  We have a daytime VBS (vacation bible school) and an evening VBS consecutive weeks in June. In July the two older ones (5 & 7) will go to summer school. And I have no plans for August. The summer school is really just to keep them busy and from getting bored, while providing a wonderful opportunity to learn a little extra.  Any ideas out there? I didn't sign them up for camps; I probably should have.

We do the reading punch cards with the library. We are YMCA members (for some families membership is discounted) Ours runs $35 a month. They attend day camp at the YMCA later in the summer. We go swimming when its hot out. We go to the Zoo on community days. We go to the Children's Museum on community days. We go to State Parks on our yearly park pass. Of course sometimes all the kids want to do is stay home and play video games. I try to keep them busy so I don't hear I'm bored. On rainy days, we have indoor activities. And of course that have plenty of Vacation Bible School options.

OF course, I forgot to mention , we are moving this summer. So I have been having them box up their own things

Hope this Helps

Sounds a bit like our summer life too. My kids go to Ransburg YMCA during the day and 2- 3 times a week they goto taekwondo classes. Tonight my 13 year old started taking the adult classes. I bribed her with a cookie and told her she really needed the challenge that class would give her. She was intimidated by the adults, but she reluctantly took the class and ended up having fun anyway. She was worn out by the time we got home (after swimming in our pool for about 20 minutes).

I have lots of suggestions!!! Part of my in-home daycare program includes field trips all summer long. I give the parents many ideas to choose from in the Spring and 12 most popular are the ones we do. So... prepare yourself for a long list.  Some are no-brainers.....LOL

zoo
Children's Museum (with a visit to the Lilly Theatre)
Perry Acquatic (southside)
Indy Island Indoor Acquatic center (great for rainy days)
Hooks Drugstore museum
State Museum
IMAX Theater
Eitlejorge Native American Museum
Civic Childrens Poduction at Civic Theater (they also offer classes)
Story telling arts of Indy
Holiday Park (Great Nature programs- many to choose from)
Indpls. Museum of Art
You Are The Potter (we go to the one in Greenwood)
Caf'e au Clay (same idea in Franklin)
Creative mind zone (make your own shirts and other crafts- Franklin)
Not Just Popcorn (hundreds of different flavored pop corn, tour- Edinburgh)
Pewinkles Puppet Studio (two locations- downtown by the Oliver Winery through the week and in Nashville on weekends)
Comedy Sportz (clean family comedy in downtown indy)
Rascals Fun Zone (Whiteland.... I think there's an other location)
Mini golf at Rustic Gardens.... better than putt putt
Conner Prairy (symphony on the prairie is here too)
Indiana Raceway Park
Mad Science of Indian (they come to you)
A water magic show by Don the magician from Family Time Entertainment
Roller Skating.... Franklin has a nice rink
Indianapolis Indians game... take a picnic and sit on the lawn
Apple Works (Kids can pick their own apples.... pumpkins in the fall... take a hay ride, learn about apple growing, pick strawberries in the spring, petting zoo...lots to do!!)
Tibbs (West side), Canary Creek(Franklin), Clearmont (north side) ..out door drive in theater.
for a week long camp..... try cyo cam Rancho Framasa... Wonderful camping experience!!
There's a horse riding farm in Moorsevill but the name escapes me.

I'm sure there are some I've missed but there really is a lot to do. Most of my list obviously comes from the South side.

Have a lot of Fun this summer!!
