Ok, so we have four girls, ages 12, 7, 5 and 4.

My 7 year old, Emma has been pitching for about 2 years now, 1 year with a pitching coach.  she is currently throwing at 40mph and has about 4 pitches that she has mastered.  I've been told my many, that we really have something special and that she'll go places.

My question is for those moms whose daughters pitch in HS or in Travel Ball 18's, at what age did your DD start pitching? And how many of you have girls that have verballed or signed to college for pitching?

How exciting!!!  My DD isn't old enough, she is still in t-ball, but she will be playing fastpitch.  But as for your question about age, I grew up pitching slowpitch, then my high school switched to fastpitch my senior year and I pitched, but I threw my shoulder out b/c I wasn't used to it and I was older trying to throw as fast as the other girls who had been doing it for a while!!  I really didn't like fastpitch, but it was b/c I was so used to slowpitch. I'm glad my DD will play fastpitch.  My SIL loves it b/c she was able to start her freshman year. It's great she's starting early I have a feeling it will take her places!  Good luck to your DD!

My Daughter doesn't pitch but plays 3rd for Varsity, catches for the JV and plays 1st & backup catcher for Travel ball. She just loves to play. She stated out playing when she was in 2nd grade and loves Softball.

My dd is 7 and plays first base on an 8&u fast pitch league. She got promoted to first from right field. She's a really good first basegirl and loves to play.

My oldest daughter (18) is a pitcher, catcher and first baseman. She has pitched since she was 9 years old and has always loved it. She just asked one day if she could try it, i said sure and I caught a fastball that bruised my hand for 2 weeks.  She had some years that she didnt pitch as much since the coaches daughter was the "main" pitcher and she took up first base and has been there since. That girl can stretch!!!!!!

Keep your daughter working hard and tell her to practice alot!!!! Daily if she can, cause that dedication shows alot to scouts later on!!!!!

Also see about getting a pitching coach, I'm sure your local ball league might know of someone!!!

BTW, an example that it will all pay off in the end is mmy daughter.....who starts college in August on a softball scholarship!!!!!
