I am new here but I really love softball. So does dd. She is an outfielder by choice.
She is playing 12 & U this year for the same coach as she had last year. The thing that is different this year is that half the team is now going to a private Christian school (including her dd) instead of the public school and the coach is treating those kids SOOO much better.
We play by Babe Ruth League rules.
So at the game on Tuesday night she played all of the girls that go to the Christian private school the ENTIRE game, and the girls that still go to public school maybe one inning. One girl (not my dd) played the outfield but never got to bat even.
She is way harder on the public school players than she is on the private school players and everything is always our (public school) girls' faults.
I attempted to speak to her about it and that only made it worse. Last night at practice she walked up to my dd who was laughing with a friend DURING A BREAK THAT THE COACH GAVE THEM and told her that she would not be allowed to participate in any tournaments this year because she was rough housing. Ok they were standing still giggling and laughing and talking, not playing.......
I want to take this to the president of the recreation board.
What do you ladies think?
Sadly I have to say first welcome to Mommy/Daddy ball. I would definitely bring this issue to the president/board/player agent(if you have one, it is their job to defend the players being treated unfairly).Try to get the other public school parents to join you and show a united front. Now this coach should not be able to ban your DD from tournaments with out bringing charges against her to the president/board. I would fight this coach hard even up to asking for a trade if possible for fear of retaliation from coach for reporting unfair treatment among players. Also with the issue of player not getting playing time, Unfortunely don't know Babe Ruth rules but I know little league has a rule with each child must have two innings in field and one at bat. I know the rules are somewhat similar so you should check the rules about that. A parent with knowledge of rules is an organizations worst nightmare. Wishing you luck.
