Hi everyone, sorry to be so long in writing. My daughters team fell apart and we have been looking at her options. Would of been nice if the head coach would of called before the season started but he didn't. she had an offer in Feb. from another team that was just what she wanted but didn't take it because of her commitment to this team. Now we are in mid June and she isn't on a team...yet. One of our problems is that we live so far away from any good teams...like 1 1/2 to 2 hour drive. Anyway i think we did the smart thing and Saturday took her to a tournament that had some really good teams playing. We went there and within 5 minutes the umps was over to her asking her why she was just setting there. LOL She had 4 offers b4 the day was over and 2 of them good offers. This is her first year of 16U and she wants to find a team that will carry her thru next summer and maybe even the summer she graduates. I think she has made a choice but waiting to see for sure. She talked to the coach last night and he said for her to play next weekend in the showcase tournament with them if if she likes the team she can commit then. His girls are excited she wants to join. I didn't relize how many coaches and girl knew her till last Saturday. It is Awesome!!
Thanks for letting me air :)
That just means she stood out all these years! Congratulations to her!! When one door closes, 4 more open! Keep us posted on her success!
Thanks again for your reply :)
Sorry I haven't been on in awhile. I am happy that your daughter found a team and that she enjoying herself. Here in Florida teams start and break up it seems almost every season. Luckily there are many and there are girls that move around almost every weekend . To me that shows no commitment when they do this in my daughter's level (12U/14U). But at your daughters level she needs to be on a team that does college showcases and if they don't she needs to guest play on teams that do. I have a few friends that drive up to 2 hours once or twice a week to have their daughters play on showcase teams so they get the exposed to many different colleges. Yes, it is good to just play, have fun, and get good exercise but to most travel players the ultimate goal is a college scholarship. Wishing you much luck with new team!
