New to this group..
Nice to know that there are a lot of other moms out there who are into rock!
I feel like a total weirdo around most moms I meet. So it'd be nice to at least talk to moms online who have stuff in common with me! I like it all, from Led Zeppelin to Hendrix to Sabbath to death metal! Currently I'm getting more into stuff like Ensiferum.... but I'll always love hair metal too! haha ;p

you and I are into very different types of rock... but you know what... edge is edge and most moms I meet just... aren't edgy!! They seem very frufru to me... they aren't bad people... but when I encourage the idea of my kids getting into extreme sports, dance (my toddler likes to groove to rock influenced hip-hop.. lol), or music like guitar and drums... I get looked at funny. My style has slacked from being pregnant pretty much two years in a row.. but I like my tattoos... I like to randomly change my hair at a moments notice... I want to get my peircings back (my nose anyway)... I want to take my kids to concerts with me... and its just not the norm in a society full of people who assume if you have kids you need to be a soccer mom with an SUV, cardigan sweater, and have the desire to live in suburbia!
Ok done ranting... lol but I just know what you mean! :) welcome to the group!
Hey, i'm new to the group, too. And I know exactly what you mean. It is hard finding people who don't think you're weird for the music you listen to. When I was pregnant, I had a co-worker tell me I'd having to change my listening habits because the baby would need to hear something calming. Well, my daughter is nearly 15 months and she dances around to the same stuff I listen to. And she's not scarred for life. I enjoy punk, alternative, grunge and some metal. I also like listening to the old 1960s protest music, too, from time to time.
I'm also new here and was so happy when I saw this group too! :) I don't know why people think it's so unusual for moms to like rock music?? You should see the looks I get when I mention the fact that I'm obsessed with Marilyn Manson. Wow do the judgements start flying around or what?

HAH, I love Marilyn Manson! And I'm just the kind of person who likes to tell other moms I do, just to see their reactions!
Actually, I like a lot of types of rock from old school metal to punk to 80's new wave to nu metal. It all depends on my mood and my kid gets to hear it all. She's particularly fond of Serj Tankian right now. I'm glad.
I so agree with what you said. I have a lot in common with you it seems. I have a couple tattoos, my ears are pierced 3 times each, my nose is pierced, I have my labret done and I like to change my hair color periodically. I drive what my kids call a "micromachine" a Mitsubishi Eclipse. My oldest son has his lip pierced 3 times, his ears gaged, his septum done.My daughter has her snakebites done and her navel. We all listen to music loud and proud.Everything from Stevie Ray Vaughn( which is my daughters favorite), to Zepplin, Godsmack, death metal,blues,Gordon Lightfoot, and many more. We don't have to be cardboard cutout perfect parents to be great parents.Our kids think we are the greatest ever. Keep Rockin'!
I am so excited to be a part of this group I listen to alot of different music but my first love is rock and metal. Nothing better than when I have had a tough night at work and on the way home from work just cracking the radio and forgetting all about it. Music is my way of relaxing and letting go. I actually like alot of rock bands to many to name really but some of them are Metallica, Alice in Chains, Staind, Tool, Seether, Korn, Shinedown, Puddle of Mudd, Incubus, Type O Negative well I think that is enough for now :) I told you there was alot. I am just looking forward to connecting with people who have something in common with me music, whether you like the same bands as me or not really doesn't matter that much to me.
Hey Moms, lovin everyone's taste in music. I live in a city that's not small, but not huge, so we are pretty lucky to get some cool concerts. I am soooo excited because next week I FINALLY get to see Stone Temple Pilots!
