Well, I didn't my first Granny Square and got extremely frustrated because I couldn't figure it out again. For the life of me, I could not do it. So I was on my favorite website... http://www.favecrafts.com/ and saw a picture of one. Then it clicked. Here is my result! I am so happy!

I want to make more of this color pattern and some with the colors in the opposite setting. I'm hoping to make an afghan once it's all completed.
The best way I've found to weave in the tails is to use a yarn needle and weave them right though the yarn-it seems to stay tucked in better than when you just pull it through with the crochet hook. When I make my granny squares, I wait til I have a whole bunch made and then sit down with my yarn needle and weave them all in. Keep posting your pics and progress-it's nice to see a newbie to crochet get all excited about learning new techniques!
I'm finally getting somewhere with these things! Woo hoo! Lol. I made a bunch of them and laid them out across the floor to get an idea of how big I want the afghan to be. Well total it will be 108 squares. I finally hit the 60 mark! Now I have to put it away for a little while so I can finish some projects before DH gets home!
