Owen's pediatrician called today and wants us to scheduale an appointment with a neurosurgeon. Has anyone else had to do this and know what to expect? They said it was just to double check and be sure everything is ok, but OH and I are freaking out a bit...

I went through this with my daughter.  They were worried that she may have Craniosynostosis (where the skull bones fuse together prematurely) because her head was so long and narrow, and she was a preemie.

They did a CT scan to make sure that the bones in her skull were still open.  They were, so we were able to proceed with the helmet as planned, without needing cranial surgery first.

Thank you. They told me they didn't think he had craniosynostosis when they felt his head but it's good to hear that's probably what they're checking for. I also found out an accaintence of mine has a daughter one  month younger than Owen is going through the same thing and they had her head scanned before going to the orthotist. There has just been so much and so many specialists that the pediatrition keeps sending him to that I've gotten very stressed and anxious...
