I am wondering what kinds of cookies everyone makes. I usually bake alot of different types. This year I am making peppermint with white chocolate cookies. Makes me want hot cocoa with a candy cane in it.
I am so excited that the holiday season is upon us!! We usually bake lots of different types of cookies...some of the 'every year' ones are my special Chocolate Chip Cookies, cut-out cookies that we decorate, and always some kind of spice cookies like gingersnaps or gingerbread. This year the special ones we are adding are candy cane biscotti, chocolate-orange cookies and I am going to try some eggnog spritz cookies with my new cookie press :) I may have to have you share your recipe for the peppermint white chocolate cookies though too!! Those sound really good!
I am so excited about my Christmas cookies this year. I am doing simple recipes this year with each of my 4 kids & we are going to host a kids Christmas cookie exchange...I think with them I will do chocolate chip, mint chip, thumb print & snickerdooles
My tradition started when I was little, my gram and I would take one day in December and bake cookies at her house. Now I take my kids to help and they love it!
Our cookies have always been the same except every other year we try a new recipe. The basic ones though are red and green thumbprint cookies, peanut butter blossoms, mini cheesecakes and buckeyes!!
Then since my sister and I have kids, we get together and bake and decorate the sugar cookie kind with Christmas cutouts. Last year we also made our 1st gingerbread house!
Baking cookies is a HUGE part of our holiday traditions. Growing up we used to bake my Mom's famous chocolate chip cookies - called Washington Cookies - they have oatmeal in them and are STILL the best chocolate chip cookie I have ever had!
As we got older we started to bake other types of cookies as well. We started making traditional sugar cookies and using cookie cutters and decorating them. It's become a new tradition to do every year now that my brother and I both have kids! We also bake a BUNCH of different kinds of Christmas breads _ apricot bread, lemon iced, manchet, etc. and make a gingerbread house (more like an estate - including a Koi pond one year!!! LOL!)
I am SOOO excited for Christmas this year!!!! My daughter's birthday is the last day of December - so it's a VERY busy time of year for us!!!

I definitely bake a lot of cookies. I always make choc chip, peanut butter choc chip, oatmeal raisin, butter cookies, and then a variety of kinds. Usually some kind of spice cookie, and then just pick from a cookie book for a different variety. I sometimes let family members choose a cookie.
I bake them and give them out, and make a large amount for my mother who no longer bakes. I also freeze dough, to use at a later time.
Every year we do the cut out cookies with very detailed decorating. I would love some of the simpler recipes that you are all making. Mind sharing them? We can create a forum just for recipes.
Fruitcake cookies, pnutbutter with kisses, choc chip with sprinkles, nut cookies. My granny always made these every year. I also make gingerbread .
