Hi, I'm new to this group.  Hoping for some mommy advice as I'm ditching the sleep books.  My son has always been a pretty good sleeper, bedtime is 7:30ish depending on last nap (he still naps is am and pm)  I won't let him nap past 4pm because it messes with betime.  His naps are about 1.5 hours each.  He is on a pretty regular routine, I'm a full time working mom and so we need routine.  My issue is that just two weeks ago he was sleeping from 7:30 until 6:30am, sometimes 7!  He was getting 11 hours off sleep, w/in the last two weeks he started to wake up at 4:30, then 5:45 and now 5am for several mornings.  I can't figure out what is going on, nothing has changed, I'm lost.  He usually can put himself right back to sleep but not at this time. Any thoughts??

Maybe he's ready to cut out 1 of those naps? That's what I did with my DS and now he's sleeping until 7 again. could be that he's just getting enough sleep during the day and just doesn't need as much

Thanks, my husband mentioned the same thing!  Looks like we will be trying this....  My only thing is that my son sleeps so well for his am nap, and it is almost like he needs it.  What time would you suggest trying to move to one nap?  After lunch?

I don't know what time you usually nap. But, I would move the afternoon one up. I know that with my oldest when I cut out a nap. He usually napped at 9 and 2. I move the nap to about 1130. He usually slept for awhile on the way home at night also. My 9.5 month old now wakes up between 530 and 6. But that is his routine during the week. So I guess I can't expect him to sleep in out the weekends! LOL

Yeah, I'm not sure what your nap times are now but maybe try moving it to in between the 2 you have now or right after lunch. DS used to nap around 9 and again about 1-2 but now he naps arouns 11:30-12:30 for 1.5-2 hours

Thank you for your info!  My son naps around 9 and 2 also, so an 11:30-12:30 nap would be great, how did you transistion?  Did you all take it slow or did one day you just said one nap and that was it?

I started off by skipping the morning nap and just keeping him entertained a little later each day until we got to a time we were both happy with but yes, I just took away 1 nap all at once. It really wasn't that hard for us

My son is also 14 months, well he will be on the 14th. Anyway, he also gets up at 5:30 or so now. He has 2 naps, one in the morning and one at lunch time. I can not take away one of his naps he gets too cranky. He usually gets up at 5:30, if I am lucky maybe 6, he has a bottle and falls back to sleep in a half an hour. He then sleeps 2 hours. he is up for 3 and a half hours and has another nap for an hour. He is then up for 5-6 hours until bed at 7:30-8. He also wakes up at least twice a night wanting his soother and blanket.
