my 4 month old is ebf. he doesn't take bottles, and rarely a pacifier. he used to be a comfort nurser until a few weeks ago. i'm talking nursing was the only way to get him to sleep day or night! now i can get him to nap by swaddling, rocking/bouncing and shushing. he may cry for a minute, but then is out like a light. he usually takes 4 naps a day, only 30-45 minutes long on average. then he is wide awake for 1.5-2 hours until he is ready for another nap. anyway, this isn't the "issue". i do nurse him to sleep at bed time, which usually ends up being between 7-8:30pm. he sleeps for 30-60 minutes, then wakes up crying... no, screaming. the only way to get him back to sleep is to nurse him. he continues to wake up 1-3 more times for the next hour or so until he is out for the night. he wakes usually only once or twice [unless he is having a rough time with teething, it could be up to 4 times :( ] to nurse before he is up for the day between 7-8:30am. so why is he having such a hard time settling for the night? any advice is appreciated!
I'm not sure except that 4 months is a major growth spurt and maybe he's just filling his belly before finally settling for the night? DS did this for awhile also every few months for a couple weeks. Another thing is maybe he's overtired? We went through a stage like this also. I started focusing on his naps more and moved his bedtime up about 30 minutes and it worked wonders! Have you read The No Cry Sleep Solution? It's a great book
