I'm Cara, Air Force Wife and student of Veterinary Technology. After I'm Certified I may go on to specialize in Pathology, Internal Medicine, or Nutrition, but cats are my specialty for now! I'm also growing to love birds and dogs thanks to owning them! My human daughter is 7.5 years old and shows signs of wanting to do something in Vet Med when she grows up too =)
Here comes the novella about our Zoo! ;)
Tai-grr is a brown tabby boy who we adopted from one of my brothers because he was moving to Japan and couldn't take all his pets with him so we spared Tai from ending up at a shelter. He's my "Baby Boy" and is quite talkative!Aurora is a dilute calico, polydactyl, Norwegian Forest Cat mix who was adopted from a shelter up in Alaska. She is affectionately known as our "Cuddle Slut" or "Ditzy Diva". I am thinking about getting her approved to be a Therapy Pet to go in and visit people in hospitals.Wooter was bottle raised by us. DH found her freshly born and abandoned. Her placenta was still attached to the umbilical cord! So we saved her from certain death and have learned over the years that she doesn't just have issues, she has a whole subscription! ;) She is an 'honorary Manx' because her tail got amputated when she was a year old and decided to repeatedly mutilate it. We are pretty certain she has some form of Epilepsy. We still love out "Punk Kitten" to bits though! She is technically a Calico but her markings resemble more of a Tortoiseshell coat with a white bib which stretches down to her tummy and she has white on her legs and paws.
Baby is our Umbrella Cockatoo. She can be very loud but is a cuddly sweetheart most of the time. I never realized how much effort goes into owning a large parrot! It has been so much fun for me to learn about a whole new species first hand. I never thought birds could have a personality, or play but I am sure being proven wrong!
Chief is our big Yellow Labrador. We think he may be part Hound Dog of some type too, but he doesn't have papers and I don't think we'll get DNA testing done because he's such an awesome dog all around that we really don't care what his genetics are! He used to be my Mother In Law's service dog but has been given to us for his retirement days =)
We also have two tanks of freshwater fish. In our large tank we have Leopard Cory Catfish, Bronze Cory Catfish, Clown Loaches, Silver Hatchet Fish, Siamese Algae Eaters, and a Betta (male, dark blue). The smaller tank has an Apple Snail, a Betta (male, yellow-orange), Rasbora Tetras, and Neon Tetras. The fish generally don't get named. They don't usually look different enough or have any other defining characteristics. We do have a couple exceptions:Dab is the dark blue BettaRa is the yellow-orange BettaRob Zombie is the Apple Snail who has lived longer than we thought he(?) would.Big Momma is the largest CatfishQuasimoto is the Rasbora Tetra with the slightly deformed spine. Little Guy is the only surviving fry of the many Catfish spawnings.
Sorry that was so long but if you've come this far I hope you enjoyed reading it!

HI all. Im Michelle and I live in VA. Im married and have two daughters, one adult and one adopted 10yo girl. We share our home with MANY pets. Currently we have :
15 year old Dachshund -Mookie, two same littler chihuahua mixs that are10- Simon and Tia, a four year old beagle-Nia, and a four year old husky -Nikki. We have 4 cats- Stinky, Ruben, Sandy and Mel ( was named Melissa by DD until we found out she was a he!)
Also have other assorted babies- 3 chinchillas, 2 guinea pigs, fish tanks etc. Almost all my babies are rescues or were fosters at one time. I also volunteer with the pet pantry here in my area. We collect food for pets whos owners have lost jobs or are down on their luck. This way, people dont have to give up their pets and we keep them out of the shelters.

I have a rat a blk , grey and white fancy rat named Buddy :-) , he is a wonderfull pet and it seems like he is almost like a lap cat cause I would hold him and he would just sit there and clean himself and -purr- the noise they make and it sounds like their eating but their not , its called purring. and he will just be a good boy he even lets me rub him on his chin. Such a good boy, But unfortunately I can't hold him anymore cause I am preggo and that being said me having cats I dnt clean the litter box anymore . But I still give him attention and talk to him ( in a baby voice. - supposedly they like that. ) I will hold him again after I have Zoey and ofcourse when I have time to. :-) So no I am not schocked you have Rats they are great companions !!! :-)
Hi, my name is Lindsey and I have 4 children with one more on the way. I recently had to give my dog away, because we had to change our living situation and it killed us. I was always raised with animals, and my life doesn't feel right without one. I am looking into getting a caged animal now, but still in the research stage. Hopefully I can get some insight on smaller critters from this group!!
I'm Tambra and the mother of three grown children and grandmother to one cute as a bug grandson. My husband and I have two dogs, a blue heeler/lab mix named Eric the Red Heeler and a min pin, sheltie, corgi thing named Miss Crazy. I am allergic to cats, but I am a great admirer of them. I have also had pets throughout my life ranging from rats to cockatiels and a pair of obnoxious ducks.
I am a groomer by day and a writer in my spare time. I love my job, but it has taken its toll on my body. I don't know how long I will be able to keep on grooming.
My husband is from Borneo and has had almost every pet under the sun. He and his family raised water buffalo, a flying fox, and fruit bat, several monkeys and have had a multitude of dogs, chickens and pigs. He's an animal lover just like I am. I end up being the voice of reason when he comes across a stray. I love him for his love of animals.
I'm Katie AKA Grumpy. I have several pets, we are almost a zoo! I have a lab, pitbull, calico cat, 2 gerbils, a dwarf bermese python and my newest edition a sugar glider. I also have 3 kids!
Hi I'm Veronica. Mother to 2 sweet human daughters age 2 and 4, 1 sweet sugar glider named Penny age 8, and 1 sweet cocker pup named Daisy age 4. Our house is full of fun.
Hi my name is Jessica, I live in Ohio. I am 28 years old, mom of one little girl and mom of a black kitten named Ruby. Ruby will be 7 months old in April. She and my daughter get along very well despite the fact that my daughter can be quite loud (which in turn scares the cat). I love animals, in particular cats, owls, and wolves.
Hi, just joined. I'm Kori. I currently have 2 fur-babies.
A dog named Coco, who will be 7 in June and a Cat named Cali who we think will be 1 in July. The cat came to us as a stray....we are so not cat people..lol.
I'm looking into becoming a Vet Tech, so hopefully I can get some good insight here!
