If she's two years old already I'm thinking that it's probably something medical or environmental. Have you taken her to a Vet yet? She could have a UTI or something else going on. Is she spayed? Is she squatting and peeing or does she lift her tail up and spray it? Is she indoors only? Do you have any other pets? What sort of lifestyle (generally speaking) do you have? With a good gathering of information I'm sure that we and your Vet can help you fix this problem! Please keep in touch, and best wishes!

she lifts her tail and spray. she is an indoor cat and no we dont have any other pets. im wondering if she doesnt get enough attention. she loves attention and my four old (who the cat was for) gives her the most. i try to but truth be told im some what nervouse around animals...afraid of being scratched all though i have grown to really love her im still getting used to her...she is afraid of my husband because everytime she pees he puts her in the basement(were her food and litter is and she spends a good amount of time) and closes the door. she is also not allowed on the bed.  and yes she is spayed.and she stays away from my 15 month old because the baby isnt very gentle(she still to young to understand)

IF she's spraying I'm thinking that there might be something outside bugging her. Spraying is usually a territorial thing. Have you noticed other cats wandering around outside your home? Do you have the windows open lots?

They are kind of expensive but you could try the Feliway plug in diffusers. They have the calming feline pheremone in them and that might help. Taking her in to the Vet to check that there's nothing medical going on too would be a good bet.

Does your kitty have her claws? When you take her in for the urine check you could also talk with them about Soft Paws. They are little 'caps' that go over the claws and they make it so the cat can't scratch, but the claws still can go in and out in a healthy manner. Making sure kitty has plenty of  good scratching posts + pads will help with it too.

Claws aren't so bad, really. Yes, being scratched hurts and is messy with the blood and stuff but the bites that break the skin are what we cat owners need to be really careful of! Cat bites get infected easier so if anyone in your family gets bit be sure to go to the doctor right away!

I'm glad you're growing to love this kitty! Where did you get her from?

She is marking her territory. I use a mixture of vinegar and water to clean wherever my cat marked. It helps. And just scold her a little and clap your hands sharply whenever you see her do it. My cats listen, and they don't do it anymore, but I have had cats who didn't listen at all and just marked away.

And chances are the cats outside have sprayed around your house, which makes your cat want to spray more, so you might need to make a mixture of hydrogen peroxide, dawn dish soap and water to clean around your windows, then use the vinegar water mixture to spray all around your house. That'll help keep the stray cats away temporarily.

There isn't much that I don't like about cats, but the spraying is one of the few things that bothers me. It may help too if, after you have cleaned outside, you try putting her on a leash and harness and take her out around the outside and let her spray out there. Some cats will walk on a leash. Even if she doesn't, it's worth the trouble to see the dramatics when you try to get her to walk! Lol!

You've gotten great advice.  I particularly want to second walking her outside on a leash/harness.  I've recently started taking my cat outside on a leash and he really LOVES it.  You said your cat doesn't use the scratching post...have you tried spraying it with catnip?  We had to do that with ours and he went crazy for it. lol
