We had 5 Angelfish at one point. We ended up having a breeding pair between them & they laid eggs. We had 2 goldfish in the tank at that time {they were feeder fish to begin with, they weren't eaten so we put them in our largest tank, 55 gallons}. The goldfish ended up eating all the eggs. We finally found a place to take the goldfish so we got rid of them. Then our Angelfish ended up dying off one by one... did some research & found out it was Angelfish AIDS, aka Discus Plague. All but 1 died. So a month after, we got 1 new Angelfish to test the waters & so the one we still had wouldn't be lonely.
And now... 3-4 days ago... they laid & fertilized eggs!!!! And now, today, they have hatched & there are AT LEAST 100 of them!!!!!!!! It's amazing!!!!!!! We were able to seperate them in the tank this time so no other fish would eat the eggs.
It is very rare to get a breeding pair with just 2 Angelfish. Even Angelfish breeders have trouble identifying the gender and just go with whatver they can get. Angelfish mate for life, & even if you have one male and one female, it is still a bit rare that they will "fall in love" & mate. We are soooooooooo blessed to have these 2 Angelfish. We will keep 2 of them, but the rest we can sell for at least $200 total!!!!!!! It's soooo awesome!
And they're adorable!
{will post pics asap}
Oh, thanks for replying. I'd forgotten that I posted here.
I have a couple pics, one is pretty good but the other is a little blurry.
None of the babies survived, though. ='(
