We r a little short of money (who isnt right?!) anyway we owe a lot of bills, my husband got a job 2 weeks ago and I work full time. My husband got some side work and made some extra money, our 6 anniversary is 4-24 and he wants to do something special with me that weekend with the extra money he made, I really want to and we really need some time together without our son which my sis offered to watch for us, my question is: is it smart for us to spend the extra $ on that or should we be paying bills???

As long as you are not in arrears with your bills, it would probably be okay to take some money and do something because your marriage is really important. However I urge you to choose something not too expensive (remember the most important thing is that you are together).  If your sister is offering to watch your son, what if you just have some time together at home, perhaps cooking a special meal together and/or going to an event you would both enjoy (either a sporting event, the theatre, even the movies, whatever you guys like to do).  My husband and I had some wonderful weekends together when money was tight just spending time together at home while a relative watched our little boy (he's now 17).  You don't want to add to your stress by going further into debt doing something too extravagant, but some quality time together might be just what you and your hubby need.

There are lots of things you can do that don't cost much.  You could pack a special picnic supper and go somewhere special to eat it.  Just try to think of creative things that you would both enjoy and then figure out how to get the same effect for free.  If you like concerts, this is the time of year when the concerts in the parks start in our area, and they are absolutely free.  If you enjoy looking for antiques, plan a day window shopping at a flea market.  Cost will be zero.  I think to spend your extra money extravagantly at this time would be foolish and could lead to bigger problems later on, so I would not do that.

i agreed with NannyB that a C-caution sign should be placed around the extra $.the bible says wisdom is profitable to direct. there still so many anniversary ahead and God willing lots of fun together in the future. so pay the bills and have peace of mind.

God bless u.
