My husband and I have been married 45 years plus 3 months.  In all that time, we have taken one vacation, as defined by most people.  My hubby has always been self-employed, which means time off is extremely rare, if not non-existent.  Almost 3 years ago, after much soul-searching, he closed his business, and since he did not want to officially  "retire", he took a job with a local company, thinking he would be working fewer hours.  At least, that's what I thought!  But I was wrong.  As it turns out, he has worked longer hours and had more stress than when he worked for himself.  Anyway, he took a week of vacation last week, and he really wanted to take me somewhere special, but by God's design, it just didn't work out for us to go anywhere.  So, we ended up spending a week at home, together, just working in the yard and doing things around the house.  It was a first!  The only other time we have ever spent an entire week together at home was when he was sick, and that's just not the same.  He went back to work this morning but very reluctantly.  We both had such a good time just being together and doing ordinary, every-day stuff.  Our marriage has not been all sweetness and light.  We've had a pretty rough go of it, to be honest, but God is faithful and He has shown us through and kept us together.  I know what it is like to struggle day in and day out and to think that things will never be any better than they are now.  So I offer you proof that God can do anything if we ask Him, believing, and are willing to wait on Him to do His work!
