Hi there.  My name is Sonia, I have 3 daughters (11, 3 & 1).  When I was pregnant with my 11 yr old (I was 18) I had not had my first OB appointment yet.  My appointment was actually kind of late into my 1st trimester cause I didn't even have an OB at the time and the one I called was pretty booked up.  I can't remember how far along I was but It was toward the middle to end of my 1st trimester.  Anyway.  Around the day before my 1st ultrasound/appointment I had extremely heavy cramping and bleeding with large clots of tissue, etc. coming out.  I was SURE my baby was gone.  My dad took me to the ER.  And after having a hard time finding the heartbeat they found it and it was normal.  Since i had my US the next day they said to just go to it.  The US was normal.  They said they were unsure why and it could be sex or just random spotting.  I felt like that was off and odd cause I saw what came out and felt it.  Years later I heard the term VTS in a magazine and I just felt for sure that was it.  I think I have mentioned it to my husband (not my 11 yr olds dad) once when I read that.  But other than that I feel like people will find me to be odd or weird cause i have no diagnosis of twins.

It's weird, because evidentally this has been happening for years and years, but ultrasounds were scheduled later into pregnancies (as opposed to now) that docs never caught it.  I woud have never known if I didn't go to the Emergency Room at 7 weeks because of spotting and cramping.  I had two visable sacs, and only one baby.  It was very, very strange. That is when the doc told me about VTS.

Same here. I went to the hospital - didn't even know I was pregnant but I was having very bad pains like I did with my miscarriages but I still didn't know. Denial, I guess. They didn't do an US then but later at the OB, I had 2 sacs and only one 1 little guy hanging on in the one side.
