I'm sure you've heard about the 3 year old little boy Kienen who is missing from his home in Sparwood. How awful and scary for his parents but most of all that sweet little boy. Police figure he's with some sicko from there who has charges for trying to kidnap a child in 2009 and sexual assult charges from the 80's. I hope this comes to a happy end and Kienen is returned safely to his family.
This is making me think about my own kids and our safety of our small town that we take for granted. My kids are 4 and 6 years old and I have a had a few stranger danger talks with them but our twn is so small and quiet it isn't really such a huge issue here. We live about 2 hours from Spokane so that perverted man could have easily taken a child from here. I don't want my kids to be afraid to talk to people, meet new people or think everyone is bad but I do want them to be cautious and know there are awful people out there who get their kicks from hurting innocent children. They know not to go with people they don't know and to never get close to a stranger but I'm not sure how to explain the danger to them without scaring them.
What do you tell your kids?
