Hello everyone I am Robyn (30) my dh and I have one beautiful child (17months) that we had after 4+ years of trying. We have been TTC again since he was about 5 months old knowing that we had a long road ahead of us.

So this brings me to why I joined this group.... We want a family of 6 (4 kiddo's) and we have wanted to adopt 2 children from Anywhere so now since we have had so much trouble again... I am wanting as much info as possible to get us started on the process of adoption... The community we live in has a large adoption network for kids from Kazhaixstan to Uganda, and China to El Salvador... I am looking for any and all resources that are out there to help us get this going. I want to adopt at least one child Internationally and one domestically!

We had looked into the China adoptions in 2006 and recieved all of the information and a week later found out we were pregnant for the first time and then we had a miscarriage 2 months later. I am now of the right age to adopt in china and know that some of the other countries have age limitations too. Please as I said before ANY information will be helpful. thanks! I look forward to this journey and with your help hope it goes a bit more smoothly!

Robyn:)

Hi,

Best wishes in your efforts to grow your family. I encourage you to research before you pay anyone anything. Also, you might start on your family portfolio and home study now, since sometimes they take a few months. That way, when you're ready to begin with an agency or private adoption in the US, you won't have those two things holding you back. Best of luck! Tiffany

And just so you are aware, there is a 5-6 year wait to adopt from China. Didn't know if you were aware of that.

I know this sounds silly but I found one book that helped me get off on the right foot... I know it sounds strange but.... The Complete Idiots Guide to Adoption was a great resource for us when we were deciding on an agency and which states we were willing to accept children from (some states are very adoption unfriendly).  It also had good info for those who didn't want to use an agency and those who want to adopt internationally.

Good LUCK and God Bless!

One major piece of advice I would give is to find an adoption support group in your area and join it. These are the people who have been where you have been. They would know the best, and worst, agencies, lawyers etc in your area.

My husband and I joined one in our area and their support and guidance has been amazing

good luck
