My hubby and I have just decided to get back on the infertility treatment wagon. A friend of ours from church is planning to adopt from Ghana. One of their relatives / friends just did this and said it was only eleven thousand dollars. total, including travel. I don't know how it can be so inexpensive, other than the fact that the costs of providing for these children over there is lower, especially since they are living in very basic conditions. Cooking over a fire, and some of the buildings do not yet have roofs. They have children of all ages, babies on up, and apparently do let you see photos & choose rather than making the match for you . I checked out the website and there are some adorable, happy kids there! They do not have a complete photo listing, just a few snapshots and group photos on the main web site. The orphanage founder is LDS and these kids attend church. We would have jumped all over this a couple of months ago, had we heard - but I just wanted to get the information out there. I know what it's like feeling like your just waiting to 'win the lotto'. and be chosen by a birthmother. The friend of a friend who did this became interested in October and started the paper work, and adopted in March. I imagine if you have a home study already with another agency it could speed up the process even further.
