My Dr. put me on prednisone for a week to get over the bronchitis the first night i took it I got up in the morning put my feet on the ground and no pain. I had energy and felt so good all day. I work in child care and i am up and down on the floor. no problem. Why cant I keep taking this stuff. I feel like a real person i could cry because after this week it is back to pain.
Have you let your doctor know how much the steroids help? It could actually open up a new avenue of treatment for you. I definitely do agree that long-term steroid use is not a great option and has many drawbacks. But they can be used on a short-term basis to force our bodies to stop fighting themselves. Steroids are frequently used that way in patients with Lupus, another autoimmune condition. Historically, there are issues with weight gain but you may not have that much of a problem if you use them in short stints. Hang in there!!
