We have family that is a bit spread out so we usually do a bit of traveling.the kids usually end up spending a bit of time inside d/t weather at a least 2 of the places we go..so does anyone have craft-to-go bag?..or any ideas of what to take..mine are kind of bored with coloring books by now, and they really aren't big on tv..and usually the men have that taken over anyway lol

What would be some easy to pack / easy to take/travel/and do things that aren't really   too messy..

Would they be interested in knitting or crochet?  That's what my daughter has been doing for the past 3 years (she's almost 13 now) whenever they took their 8 hr drive to Wisconsin.  There's a great website that I found that teaches these skills.  http://cache.lionbrand.com/

Well..there are 6 all together if we have them all.(4 are step kids, but we have custody of 2 of them)

they go like this..14, 10, 9, 8, 7,  & 5..the 8 yo is autistic, but he LOVES crafts..I haven't been able to catch his attention with crocheting yet, but the 10 yo loves it..but he gets bored with it..

the youngest 2 are girls..the rest boys( the oldest & youngest are my biological kids and the 10& 9 are the ones that live with us)..

I like to overcompensate for the every day chaos in my regular life by being INCREDIBLY organized when it comes to crafting.  The result is that I have several smallish clear plastic totes that make for good traveling crafts.

We take the scrapbooking one with us a lot.  It's just a tote full of paper and other supplies, pictures separated by category into zip lock baggies.

My daughter loves to make "fairy houses", so we have a tote full of small crafting rocks, sticks and spanish moss.  Also included are a small hot glue gun and glue sticks and those tiny unfinished birdhouses (you can get them at JoAnn's for $1).   We glue the rocks all over to make it look like a stone cottage, glue the moss to the roof, and throw in a few sticks here and there.

And we decoupage---so there's our ModPodge tote.  It currently houses a few small cardboard boxes, foam brushes, a couple of unfinished tiny picture frames, pictures, paper or magazine clippings that we've collected for the purpose of decoupaging.

Thanks for the ideas..I put together a card making box for our trip this weekend..some Christmas Stamps..blank cards..ink pads, spray inks, stickers, punches..coloring pencils..glue..

Everything they need to make Christmas cards for their personal gifts..(they like to make them for us, (and my step kids like to make them for the other side of their family too which I love for them to do, so they feel connected to them) and my kids like to make for my family as well..and their teacher, and Sunday school teachers..

So I think they are pretty set for a craft day if they get bored while we are there..

Thanks for the ideas !
