Applesauce with Cranberries

  • 3/4 pound (1 bag) fresh cranberries
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar, or to taste
  • 4 pounds apples, unpeeled and quartered

In a large saucepan, combine cranberries, 1-1/2 cups water, sugar and apples. Cover and let simmer for 20 minutes or until apples are soft. Let cool slightly and then put through a food mill. Adjust sugar to taste.

Makes about 8 cups.

I make something similar, but a few differences...I use MacIntosh apples, brown sugar and canned whole cranberry sauce.  Just had this a few nights ago.
