Without seeing them, I don't know how tall...but if they're more than say 6', would you be able to cut them in half? Then you'd have a 3' fence surrounding you garden and you could put window boxes on top for added planting space without all the bending. Doesn't matter how old you are, gardening is hard on the back.

My mom has some in her flower bed. She stood them in the ground and set a solar light on each side and put a flower pot in the middle on the ground. She put little birds and butterflys as docoration on the fence.

That sounds really pretty. Do you have any pictures?

I went on a garden tour and one woman used old wall decorations from her house and hung them on some fence material to form a wall and a wind break. It was not part of her fence.  She then placed an old wooden chair and end table in front of the wall section.  She grouped different sized flower pots on the end table and the ground.  This created a place to set and admire her garden but it could be also looked at like an outside room.  On the other side she hung flowers in pots that attached to the fence and added a string to allow some clematis to climb up each side. I am sorry I did not take a picture of the garden so I can add a photo.
