I had wedding bubbles... wedding bells... and chocolate roses. I wish I had spent more money and more time on them, because I feel like I kinda focused on everything BUT my favors.. and I feel like they are important to "thank" your guests for taking the time to come to the wedding. IDK, cant go back now, and its 4 years later, but I was curious!
HOWEVER - with all the weddings I've been to, I don't remember who had what favors - it's just not something I remember years later so maybe it doesn't really matter!
Now your chocolate roses sound FANTASTIC!! Yummy!
My BF had a fall wedding and wrapped maple sugar candies (we're in New England) in red/yellow/orange cellophane. Those were pretty and tastier than the almonds.
I don't know if people did or didn't like my favors (I never asked!) but I tried to give something that was "usable". I bought small clear glass votive holders (they looked like miniature flower pots). I painted the rim with gold metallic paint, printed the date on the bottom in gold pen and added a small votive candle.
I actually had these at each place setting and had them lit (evening wedding) so that when guests entered the room, there was candlelight everywhere. I also had small baskets of gold wrapped Lindt truffles on the tables.
p.s. I've been married 7 years and I STILL use the leftover candle holders. They fit in quite well with christmas decorations on the mantle!!
you cold do other shapes or just square or round to go with your theme and put a monogram on them. Your bakery will even make them for you!
here is a cool website too that will put pictures on cookies!

I'm sure you could handmake something really cute using this concept!
GOOD LUCK!

also bought pencils from oriental trading company that were personalized and had a little bell on the end then paired it with a Word Search I designed on my computer, we printed them on what looked like textured paper and tore them apart so they'd have ruff edges, we rolled them up and slid little silver bands around them.

Don't have any pictures of just that but here are our center pieces put together with some of it....
Okay, we weren't even engaged yet when we got our wedding favors...it was Feb and we knew we were getting engaged and getting married around Xmas...we just happened to walk in to a Pottery Barn and they had a set of 8 coffee mugs with different Santas and Reindeer for $8...I"m not kidding. We looked at each other and laughed and said we couldn't pass on the opportunity so scooped up all they had. Everyone loved them and still uses them 7 years later.

We got married in a destination wedding and all of our guests stayed at a local casino. So we had chocolate coins set out all over the tables for people to grab and nibble on too.
We also had made these Satin Roses (filled with a bit of birdseed). With the flick of the wrist, they open and the birdseed flies out at the happy couple. Tuck the fabric back inside and the rose is a keepsake for the departing guests.

For my daughter's wedding last year, we bought M&Ms in the wedding colors at a bulk candy store and filled little holders we bought cheap at the dollar store for the tables at the reception. And since it was an outdoor wedding in July, we made fans with the bride and groom's names and wedding date on one side and wedding-theme prints on the other side.
One other cute idea I've seen done is bookmarks made from homemade paper embedded with flower seeds for guests to plant the strip of paper in the garden later. (I kept mine instead - too cute to plant.)
