how about a sports theme, if either of them have a favorite team or sports.

I've never cared much for gender specific showers.....boys and girls get shoved into their gender soon enough....
What happened to having nursery rhyme themes?

I agree... its in my opinion to early to start doing boy things.. maybe just use boy colors and how about mother goose stories?
thank you for your ideas. I just wanted to do something different like the lil pumpkin shower i thought that was a cute idea but not for feb. I know its early but i figured i could start buying crafts now so its not a big chunk of money come jan.
Is your daughter doing a specific theme for the bedroom, if so you should do that. For my first child we did a Classic Winnie the Pooh themed bedroom and that's what the theme was for the shower. Of course I was the one who basically planned it because both my MIL and Mother wanted to have a shower for me but neither one of them are that good at planning parties. They invited the people, I planned the party. I wish you luck in your party planning.
My son is 14 months old. For my shower, my only request was "no pink" Me or my husband are into sports, so that wouldn't have worked for us either. We just had pretty napkins and tableclothes that had bears on them. Some other cute decorations, my bff made some diapers out of fabric and wax. My aunt made the cake, which was a teddy bear in a cradle. I do like the idea of going with whatever theme his room is going to be in.

She's due close enough to Valentaine's Day that you could do something like "little cupid" or something. Have Velentine decorations with cute little babies and cupids with arrows - I never thought it made sense to have "babyish" stuff at showers when the baby's not even there yet.
I had a shower for my "son to be" a few months ago. My mom hung a string along the wall and clothespined a bunch of cute boy outfits along it. That was all the decorations we needed. It was fun and she didn't have to spend a ton of money on decorations.
I went to a friend of mines Monday. The theme was yellow rubber duckies. They used blue hawiian punch. They cut a watermelon to make it look like a train. As for games. They did a bingo, when u arrive at the shower u have to fill out a bingo paper with gifts that u thought that the mother -to-be would recieve. They had three baby bottles filled with punch and three ladies had to see who could suck the bottle dry the fastest. On the table there were little clear plastic bowls that were filled with blue water and had a duckie floating in it.
I had the same problem with my babyshower back in 2006. so my mom and my "aunt" came up with the idea of picking colors. Nothing else. And it turned out to be the easyest way for me. All my girl friends have done the same thing since. The only thing that I did was make sure the color I picked was a color I saw in a lot of the stores.
Hope it helps~
