I have made a bunch of granny squares for a blanket and want to add a final black border for all of them, does anyone know how to do "join as you go" with a granny square that does not have shells?  The pattern I used for the squares is this one, so there is no sc stitch to join them:

Thanks for your help!

I have never joined my crochet so I am not sure if this would work...could you maybe slip stitch them together?

you should be able to do a slip stitch to join them.  to add a black border, you could just sc around the whole thing, including the chains at the corners, and then probably ss with black as well. are they all yellow?  because that would be super cute!

I would join with a slip stitch, in both loops of your edge stitches.  Just keep an eye on keeping them all the same number of stitches, so it stays even. But in the long run, most people aren't going to notice a little bobble or two, it will be YOUR eyes going instantly to the problem area! :) And for the border just go all the way around, again in both loops of your edge stitches.  I usually do the first round in single crochet, to lay my foundation, and then go around again with whatever look I want to give it (shells, double, half double, etc.) One stitch I'd like to try for an edging is the crab stitch.

Cute!
