Great way to make purees

I know that they recommend using ziploc baggies for your purees, but I didn't want to waste them so I put my purees into silicone muffin molds and it worked GREAT!

Each mold is 1/2 cup and easy to pop out when the veggies are frozen.  I then store the little veggie muffins in large ziplocs all together and use as needed.

Just a fun tip!

When I made homemade babyfood I froze my pureed foods in ice cube trays and then transferred them to a ziploc once frozen. I could do the same for this...smaller portions than than the muffin tin though. hmm....

Great idea! i had heard of using the ice cube trays for baby food so this makes perfect sense!! thank you so much for posting this and can i just say that this book is my new toddler food bible! i have made many of the recepies and they have all been wonderful! the rice balls were a little difficult and time consuming to make but tasted good. the pancakes with sweet potato are  my family's favorite.  i make them with whole wheat mix and blueberries. yum!

Great tip! I vacuum seal things, but I use these so quick I didn't want to waste the bags either.

when I canned my beets I put them in my vita mix, then I froze them about a half cup in the sanck size bags, so I can add them to my brownies ect. Debbiekissing

Great idea!

Another idea, which your idea reminded me of, is to freeze them into ice cube trays and then pop out and store into one big freezer bag.  This is what I do when I made large amounts of sauces and things like pesto and it worked great.  You could probably premeasure the ice cube tray for like, 2 TBLS and then 2 cubes would = 1/2 c.

Thanks for sharing!
