I have been trying to look at my labels and see how much High Fructose Corn Syrup (and other things) we're eating. We don't eat a lot of sweets and the kids don't drink pop/sweetened drinks from the store, so I don't worry about it that much.
I was SHOCKED when I read the label for Log Cabin Pancake syrup! I make pancakes about twice to three times a week. Corn Syrup and High Fructose Corn Syrup were the first 2 ingredients! Looking at the store generic, the only difference was that HFCS was 1st and then CS. WHAT!?
Looking for real Maple Syrup: 32 oz $22.58! and there was only one choice! The smaller bottle was $10. My mom buys 32 oz at The Health Food Shoppe here in Ft Wayne for $12 and I think that's what I'll do. There is no point in my making really healthy pumpkin or applesauce pancakes if we're then going to cover them in HFCS and CS! I have a bottle of KARO in my pantry if I want to do that.
If you belong to like a Costco or a BJ's you will spend that amount but get a huge container of it. Just a thought...

Sadly, as I was ordering from Sam's club last night, I looked and all they have is Log Cabin's Pure Maple syrup for 32 oz at $20. We don't have a Costo or BJ's, but thanks!
If you don't have real maple syrup, you can also try applesauce or yogurt. Yum....
i havent liked log cabin syrup since i was little. i usually put canned fruit that is in fruit juice or light syrup, sometimes i even wrap some sausage or bacon in the pancakes.
I usually put honey, jelly or peanut butter on my boys' pancakes. I have never like syrup myself so I guess I never think about it. My hubby does when he is making them though, I'll have to pass that along to him. NASTY!

My little guy has to eat his pancakes dipped in yogurt. He won't eat them with out. I use syrup, but have thought about changing. Yogurt does seem like it would be yummy. Guess he is teaching me a thing or two.
