Tantrums

 I have a question.. I know i having been around in a long while. I wanted to see if other moms go through this.

My DD is 12 years old and in two months going to be 13yrs old.

She is at the functioning age of 2yrs old. Diagnosised with Autism straight up.

She don 't get tantrums all the time or melt downs. But there are times She does. Its either to take her to a DR's office. OR if she see's something she wants, then we are in melt down ville.

When she has a melt down, its mostly yelling and screaming.

But when she wants something, she is determined to get it to the point of fighting with u to try even when i take her out of the equation and talk to her to calm her down. But she don't stop.

Even at times, depending what she wants she yells and screams for one hr or two. Depending on situation and where it is.

IF she loses something she tears house apart.

I have been hoping she will grow out of this. But so far no luck.

My son is 15 going to be 16 soon and he grew out of his Tantrums by 5 yrs old.

Now i try and correct her repetitively as school says. But don't help its hard to take her to certain places.

But when home most of the time great. SHe is on Med's intuniv, and night meds for sleep with melatonin.

BUt i was wondering if there are any parents w ho go through theses things with there kids this late in there age.

My son will be 14 at the end of this month.. and we used to go through tantrums, meltdowns whatever you want to call them in the store to. I would say these lasted until about the age of 12 for him.To the point of screaming in the store because he didn't get what he wanted to.. it will happen and it will be a great sucess when it does.

THank you! I hope it does happen. But at this point i can't see it happening. But i do wish it does.

Congratulations too on your son stopping to do that.
