I finally got my husband to agree to my son being tested for PDD-NOS.  This has been a disagreement between us for several months as I want him tested and my husband thinks I am just looking for something to be wrong with my son.  I have explained to him that I am around the kids more than he is during the day and evening hours so I see more things than he does.   Also I have said that if we thought he had a life-ending illness we would definatley take him to the doctor.  Well, his mother said something the other day in regards to my son and the autism spectrum so now my husband has realized that maybe I am not the only person seeing things and that he should be evaluated.  So on today's list of to do things is to make the call for a dx!  I am so estatic and just had to share this!!!

Good for you (and your son!) I've been accused of looking for something to be wrong, too. Not by dh, but outsiders. And I always think...HELLO? Isn't it obvious there is something wrong? Wouldn't you like to know what it is so we can work with it? Pat yourself on the back for not letting it go and getting your son what he needs. (even if it took someone else to point it out for hubby to get it)

Congratulations... it most feel wonderful to have him finally agree.  Heck half of my family, doesn't want to believe that there is anything "wrong" with my dd.  I keep trying to explain that there is nothing "wrong" with her, she just does things differently and then reacts differently to other things...  Maybe one day when she can explain it to them herself.. sigh...

Thank you for this reply...I agree with you and have to catch myself when I forget that there is nothing wrong with my ds, he just sees and does and reacts differently than others. A good reminder...

I am glad that your husband is ready to listen. Parents do go into denial, thinking that their child is "deffective" but they are not! Like said before, they just react differently. I was struggling for 2 years before we had a diagnosis from a psyhcologist and that was when my hubby realized that I wasn't making things up!

Keep us up to date and lt us know how things go!

Thank you all for your responses.  I couldn't agree more with the nothing is wrong with him issue, he just is a little different from the children around him.  I am not sure what my husband is afraid of as he doesn't really want to talk about it much.  I tell him that this is not at all helpful because if we don't communicate on this issue better than we can't help our child at all.
I was able to get an initial appointment for my husband and I to go to first next Wednesday.  I will keep everyone posted as to what happens.
Thanks for the encouragement!!
