Hello, I am a newbie here! I am very excited to get to know other mom's that have babies with hemangiomas. It was such a relief to know that (even though my little one's is small) that others had this too!

I was SO concerned about the size of his and the awkwardness of it being lower on his elbow where everyone could see, mainly because I was worried about how others would treat Dylan. But, after reading some these posts, I am not as worried. He will adjust fine, plus, hopefully, it will go away in a few years.

I am considering taking him to a specialist just to make sure everything is normal with it. When would you suggest I do this? He is 8 months old and I thought if it wasn't receding or starting getting a lot bigger, taking him at around 2 years old. Do you think this is too early or not early enough?

my son is 2 months old and has his on the top of his head...its about the size of a nickel and the pediatrician said that it might get just a little bigger (maybe the size of a quarter) before it starts to "involute" as they call it...i feel really self concious and really concerned about it cause its just so big and bright red on the top of his head, but she (the ped) told me not to do anything about them because they can be a bloody mess...and if its not really in a bothersome area (such as in the diaper area or other places where it may become chafed, or rubbed up against constantly) to not worry about any time of surgery for removal and that it will be gone by the time he starts kindergarten which is a good thing....
