my daughter has been captivated by our little friend eebee since she was a mere 2 weeks old. as her 1st birthday slowly (ok, way too quickly) approached i started flirting with the idea of making an eebee cake to mark the occasion.
well, after looking through my fellow cafe moms' photos of their eebee parties and checking out the pics at eebee.com, i created an eebee cake of my own. it was a bit time consuming but well worth the effort.
i have attached pictures of the cake along with a few shots of the cake-decorating in progress. if you're planning on making a cake for your little one, i really hope these tips and pictures can help ease the stress at least a little bit.
- i used the eebee face mat from the eebee adventure play mat and activity play house as my "model"
- the cake is laying on a wilson cake board and the blue and purple colors were created with tissue paper that i layered on the top and taped securely to the bottom of the cake board.
- before i started decorating the cake (9" single layer) i cut out wax paper pieces that would lay under the cake and the hair. i did this to keep the buttercream frosting from soaking into the tissues paper.
- i cut out pieces of paper in the shapes of eebee's eyes, nose and mouth and placed them on the cake and iced around them.
- i used snack size butterfingers and large marshmallows (cut in half) for his hair. his nose is about 1/3 of a large marshmallow and his ears are made from milano cookies. his pupils are also marshmallows.
i hope this helps!
take care,
bridget
