I just wanted to share an experience I had on a Carnival Ship, with the daycare, They are not trained to deal with an child with a disability so if you think you will have some time to yourself dont go on Carnival. My son has a speech problem, but he does communicate. They tried to tell my they didnt have enough staff for special needs kids. I had to complain to guest services, so I could go to one show and have them watch him. After the experience I had I will never go on another Carnival ship until he is grown up. We could not eat in the Formal dinning room, cause they only want 5 yrs old that can feed themselves at dinner time in the daycare. I looked forward to some time to be alone with hubby, since I am a stay-at - home Mom right now and I didnt get it on Carnival. I saw another Mom with a Special needs child who was a teen, so I stuck up a conversation with her. She told me that Disney is the only Cruise line she trusts with her child. She never leaves her child with Carnival daycare. I just wanted to help another family by posting this. Thanks.
You realize that with the American's with Disabilities Act (ADA) Carnival can't exclude your child from something they provide all their guests just because he has a disability. And they sure as hell can't use money or "we just didn't think about it" as excuses. They discriminated against not only your child but also you and your husband. At the very least I would write them a letter and get a complete refund on your curise. Well.. actually, I would sue them under the ADA.
