My name is Tracy and i am a 33 year old mom of three kids ages 13,10 and 8. We live in Arkansas. I have known that i have Mitral valve prolapse for maybe 10 or 11 years. The symptoms get really bad sometimes but the hardest thing I am having trouble with right now is shortness of breath. I also have a moderate regurgitation (leaky valve). Hope to get to talk to others who have this also. It can be scarey sometimes!

Hello, nice to see this group is finally getting some action. My valve is leaking as well.  I feel good most days, but some days it does knock me on my butt! :)

Wow!  I didn't realize we were getting new posts!!  COOL!

So how do you know if you are having regurgitation?  I was diagnosed after I had my twins.  I think I've probably always had it, but it was just a lot worse after pregnancy.

I was diagnosed in High School, and then it was repaired, but not fully.  I just had another echo a few weeks ago because my symptoms have been getting worse.  ( I know you were probably asking the poster this question, but I answered for me too!) :)

I was diagnosed while i was pregnant with my second child. I got really dizzy and sick to my stomach one day while is was standing in Kroger check line and i literally passed out and fell on my butt in the check out line! Next thing i knew all these people were standing around me trying to get me to come around and i could hear them but i could not talk. Finally i did and was SO embarrassed, lol. They called my husband and he took me to the emergency room and thats when they sent me to a heart specialist and found out I had mitral valve.

With me they did i thinks its called an echo, anyway some machine i was hooked up to i guess they could see it cause they told me aftwards i had regurgitation. At  first i was told it was mild leaking then several years later told me it was moderate leaking.

Hi, I was told I had a murmur 20 years ago, but I never went to the doctor much, so I never got it diagnosed. I'm 48 now and recently I began having palpitations and flutters, so I was sent to a cardiologist, who diagnosed Mitral Valve Regurgitation. I'm suppose to take Inderal, but the side effects are unbearable. Today the doctor told me my heart was going to wear out if I don't take my meds. Anyone else on meds?
